Atheism is down as UK gets spiritual – says the headline of an article reporting on a recent survey, appearing in The Times newspaper on Friday 28th December 2018.

Pete Greig, founder and Team Leader of 24-7 Prayer, has just published the following remarks about this article on his Instagram account. (Click here to view on Instagram).

‘Just to be clear what we’re seeing here:
– British atheism —> declining (-2-3% p.a. for 3 yrs)
– British church attendance —> growing
– British people who pray —> growing. .
Are these signs of revival in the UK? Not yet. Atheists (and some regular church-goers) are ‘merely’ becoming nominal believers in ‘a greater spiritual power’, not necessarily in Jesus Christ; they are attending church occasionally, but not regularly; they are turning to prayer, but only sporadically.

So, is this everything we are praying for? Nope! Lets not get over-excited. In the words of the meme, let’s just ‘Keep calm and carry on.’

But is it a start? Fuel for faith? Somewhat encouraging for those who’ve wept, worked and prayed for years, longing to read this kind of report in the mainstream press? You bet!

And could it be a wake-up call for politicians and the media? The beginning of an exciting new season for gospel adventuring? A hint and a whisper that the tide is finally, beginning to turn in this supposedly secular nation? Maybe!’

 

Smith Wigglesworth’s 1947 prophecy of worldwide revival is extremely well known and as you may know,  a major influence for Call the Nation to Prayer.

Less known is a similar word, which speaks of a worldwide revival, particularly of healing, that he gave to evangelist Dr Lester Sumrall in 1939.

A summary of Smith Wigglesworth 1939 Prophecy

In 1939 World War II was about ready to break out. Lester Sumrall was in his twenties. He was working in a Bible school in England and he got to know Smith Wigglesworth. He read his books and heard about his ministry. He had been going over and visiting Smith Wigglesworth in his home for several years. Every other week he would visit him. Smith Wigglesworth would also have Brother Sumrall to speak at his conventions.

One day, Lester Sumrall went to tell Smith Wigglesworth that a police officer had come to his door and told him that everyone who was not an English citizen would have to leave the country. Hitler was threatening to come across the English Channel, so all foreigners had to leave.

The young Sumrall explained to the elder minister, “I came to say goodbye to you. I appreciate all that you have put in to me.” Now, here was a young minister in his twenties, and here was a man in his eighties who wanted to give his gift to somebody.

Smith Wigglesworth told the young minister, “I want to bless you.” So he held him and said, “Lord, everything that I have, bless him with it! Give it to him!” Smith Wigglesworth started weeping as he pulled Brother Sumrall in closer.

“He was a big man, and as he held me close into him, his tears rolled off his face and they would hit me in my face,” Brother Sumrall explained.

Wigglesworth cried saying, “I probably won’t see you again now. My job is almost finished.”

As he continued to pray, he cried “I see it, I see it!”

Brother Sumrall asked, “What do you see, what do you see?

He said, “I see a healing revival coming right after World War II. It’ll be so easy to get people healed. I see it! I see it! I won’t be here for it, but you will be.” And there was a healing revival right after the war.

He continued to prophesy, “I see another one. I see people of all different denominations being filled with the Holy Ghost.” That was the Charismatic Revival. God raised up people during that era, like the Full Gospel Businessmen.

Then Brother Wigglesworth continued, “I see another move of God. I see auditoriums full of people, coming with notebooks. There will be a wave of teaching on faith and healing.” We did experience that wave he saw, and we call it the Word of Faith movement.

Then he prophesied, “After that, after the third wave,” he started sobbing. “I see the last day revival that’s going to usher in the precious fruit of the earth. It will be the greatest revival this world has ever seen! It’s going to be a wave of the gifts of the Spirit. The ministry gifts will be flowing on this planet earth. I see hospitals being emptied out, and they will bring the sick to the churches where they allow the Holy Ghost to move.”

We have also felt strongly, even more so recently, that God is reconnecting the past Christian Heritage of this nation to what He is now orchestrating. Christians are again rediscovering the faith of former years to pray with increasing boldness for The Kingdom  of God, the power of The Holy Spirit to come and dramatically change our land from where we have currently found ourselves.

It was therefore most interesting to come across an article, published about one year ago, by The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, entitled, Billy Graham Reflects on His Friendship with Queen Elizabeth II.

…“No one in Britain has been more cordial toward us than Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” Billy Graham wrote in his autobiography, Just As I Am. “Almost every occasion I have been with her has been in a warm, informal setting, such as a luncheon or dinner, either alone or with a few family members or other close friends.”…

…”On one occasion when I was in Great Britain, the Queen was preparing her annual Christmas address to be broadcast on television around the world. To illustrate a point, she wanted to toss a stone into a pond to show how the ripples went out farther and farther. She asked me to come and listen to her practice the speech by the pond and give my impressions, which I did.”…

Each time we pray or speak out for Jesus Christ, another ripple is released. Let’s keep ‘tossing our stones in the pond’.

 

There are many ‘prophetic words’ out there at the moment, so CTNTP is careful to weigh them and to only pass on those which clearly ‘resonate’ with the vision the The Lord has already given us. We have just had this prophetic word drawn to our attention and it resonates most strongly!

In particular, this Word, published on 7th December, which comes from Lana Vawser, living in Australia – website lanavawser.com – speaks of a new sound of prayer, a new impetus of The Spirit coming upon The Church for fervent, powerful intercession and repentance.

We have highlighted in green some parts which we feel are particularly relevant to the ‘Sound’. See what The Lord says to you. 

 

FIRE IS ABOUT TO FALL ON YOUR PRAYER LIFE

The Lord has been speaking to me so much about fire falling on prayer lives in this new era. As I sat with the Lord asking Him what was on His heart regarding prayer, I heard the Lord say:

“Fire is about to fall on prayer lives and catapult My people into unchartered territories in prayer.”

An explosion of joy bubbled forth within me and I was overcome by the heart of the Lord, the invitation to position ourselves in prayer more than ever before, because there are UNEXPLORED AREAS in prayer that He wants to take us in.

There are keys, strategies and deeper levels of His heart that He is inviting us into in this new era. The place of seeing and partnering with the strategy of heaven, even when it looks completely different to anything we have ever seen and praying His heart, praying His Word, praying His dreams into the earth. There is such a deeper area of His heart that is going to be revealed in this new era that is going to see some of the greatest demonstrations of His power that we have ever seen.

I have been hearing the sound of earthquakes in the spirit and in my dreams recently and as I have sat with the Lord, one thing that He keeps speaking over and over is in this new era the body of Christ are about to be ASTONISHED by the POWER OF PRAYER!!!!

There is going to be such violent, glorious, rumbles of intercession that are going to manifest in prayer lives, rooms and places unlike anything we have experienced before. Prayer rooms, houses, lives and gatherings are about to SHAKE with the power of God as the prayers of the saints arise. There are going to be louder groanings of intercession that is going to come upon the body of Christ in order to BIRTH the mighty explosive move of God upon the earth that we are all anticipating.

“And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words.” – Romans 8:24 (The Passion Translation)

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” – Romans 8:24 (English Standard Version)

I had a vision where I saw many in their secret place in deep intercession, people gathered in homes, prayer houses, churches crying out in deep intercession and all of a sudden I saw LIGHTNING come out of the heavens and met with the intercession of the saints. I could hear Him decreeing:

“It’s going to be like nothing you have ever seen. It’s going to be like nothing you have ever seen. How am I going to move through the prayers and intercession of My people in this new era will be UNPRECEDENTED! The way that My power is going to be displayed through the groanings of My Spirit through My people will bring SUDDEN, EXPLOSIVE breakthroughs, shifts and divine rearrangements.”

His decree continued:

“Here comes another baptism of fire upon the prayer lives of My people. Here comes another baptism of fire upon the prayer houses. Here comes another baptism of fire upon the prayer lines. Here comes another baptism of fire upon the place of 2 or 3 gathering in My name. There is a divine glorious stirring of My Spirit in this new era that is igniting such a deep fire within My people to spend more time in prayer than they ever have before. But My people do not FEAR the rumbling. Do not FEAR the travail. Pray it through! Pray it through and watch Me make history THROUGH YOU!!!!”

MY FIRE IS COMING IN UNPRECEDENTED LEVELS UPON THE UPPER ROOMS

I heard the Lord decree again:

“My fire is coming in unprecedented levels upon the UPPER ROOMS. Fire on the UPPER ROOMS like in ACTS is about to EXPLODE AGAIN that even the WORLD will take notice of the supernatural demonstrations of My power and signs and wonders.”

(Acts 2)

HIS EYES ARE ROAMING THE EARTH

I then had a vision where I saw the Lord’s eyes roaming the earth and He was asking a question…

“Who will carry My heart? Who will lay down preconceived ideas, expectations and agendas and come to Me to ask Me for My heart to then enter into the deepest realms of intercession to see it manifest and the world changed?”

There was such a beautiful invitation of the Lord to receive His heart for our families, our cities, our nations and the earth and to partner with Him to pray His heart, His purposes and His plans into being.

“I WILL SHAKE YOU AWAKE!!!!!”

I heard the Lord decree:

“I WILL SHAKE YOU AWAKE” and suddenly I saw the fire of God and the power of God crash in to different places, churches and areas in the body of Christ where the Bride has been sleeping, where there has been complacency, where there has been apathy and SUDDENLY the Lord came with fire and power and INTERRUPTED. This divine interruptions and demonstrations of His power in the most UNEXPECTED places will SHAKE His people awake.

I then heard the Lord say:

“Watch as some of the most “asleep” places in the body of Christ are SUDDENLY transformed by a Sovereign move of My fire and power and some of the greatest PRAYER MOVEMENTS will begin from these places that will radically transform their cities. I am a God who cannot be contained. I am a God who cannot be limited and I am going to display My power in this new era in SIGNS, WONDERS and MIRACLES that will leave you in AWE. Some of the DRYEST of places are about to become some of the deepest wells of My Spirit as My Spirit crashes in and breaks out and deep repentance takes place in their midst and suddenly My power is manifest all around.”

THE BIRTHING CRY OF “RETURN, RETURN, RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE” WILL RESOUND LOUDER THAN EVER IN THIS MAJOR MOVE OF MY SPIRIT UPON PRAYER LIVES, LINES AND HOUSES

I watched as the fire of God was falling on the prayer lives, lines and houses and a deep birthing was taking place in intercession as the Spirit of God took His people into deeper levels of intercession and prayer and I heard the sound of REPENTANCE LOUDLY RESOUNDING.

I could hear all of heaven calling forth through intercession:

“RETURN, RETURN, RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE” (Revelation 2)

It was a summoning call from the Lord being birthed in the body of Christ where the sound of repentance was becoming LOUD in the body of Christ.

Compromise, complacency, sin, double mindedness, oppression and so much more was SUDDENLY falling off so many of God’s people as they were RUNNING towards Him in repentance. The holiness and fear of God was SO strong!!! There was a trembling fear of God that was upon the Church that was REQUIRING a DECISION again to RETURN to your first love or to remain in a place of lukewarmness. The love of God was SO strong, His wide open arms were SO evident, He was calling His people forth and MANY were falling on their faces in repentance and returning to their first love – beautiful JESUS!!!

There was also a deep sound of repentance arising from many in the body of Christ for living in doubt and not taking the Lord at His Word. As the deep repentance was taking place the fire of conviction and awakening to the truth of Matthew 19:26 “With God ALL things are possible” was increasing dramatically. The SOUND OF FAITH was resounding LOUDLY!

THE SUMMONING SOUND OF “RETURN, RETURN, RETURN TO GOD” THROUGH INTERCESSION WAS RESOUNDING IN THE EARTH CALLING PEOPLE AND THE WORLD BACK TO HIM

As this deep move of His Spirit upon prayer lives was taking place an even deeper summoning sound to RETURN back to Him was exploding in the earth. It was calling the people of the earth back to their heavenly Father, back to their Creator, back to the One and Only true God – Jesus Christ.

The Lord spoke again:

“Lana, HEAR the summoning sound. HEAR the summoning sound of the harvest in intercession. It has begun but it is about to get LOUDER than it has ever been. Listen to the SUMMONING SOUND.”

Suddenly I could hear John 3:16 RESOUNDING LOUDER than EVER throughout the earth:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son that whoever shall believe in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

I began to think of all the glorious ways I have seen Him move in this last year and how exciting it is to see what He is doing and the interrupted my thoughts:

“Lana, the SUMMONING SOUND is about to get louder than EVER. You ain’t seen NOTHING yet. What is going to be seen on the earth has NEVER been seen before and it is closer than ever. This deeper level of intercession and fire upon prayer lives is going to birth the greatest move of My Spirit that has EVER been seen. The travail will be deep, but My GLORY that shall be seen and cover the earth will be unprecedented.”

I watched as THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of prodigals began running home.

Friends, things are shifting. Things are changing. Don’t be afraid of the major shaking that is coming upon your prayer lives, the prayer lines in churches and prayer houses. God has already begun to come in powerful ways like we have never seen but there is a MAJOR trembling and shaking of His power and fire that is about to fall.

You are about to be awakened in ways you have NEVER imagined to the POWER of prayer and the miraculous answers to prayers, shifts and acceleration of the manifestation of His promises that are going to be displayed upon the earth.

As His people, we must not sit on our hands and just ‘wait’ for God to do everything. We MUST engage. We MUST be intentional. We MUST cry out. We MUST ask (Jeremiah 33:3). Ask! Ask! Ask! Position yourself in the place of prayer however He shows you in response to His summoning call.

Unprecedented, uncharted areas of prayer, intercession and the depths of His heart await!

We have just had confirmed another major call to pray for our Nation, by evangelist David Hathaway – and this is just one of many such days of prayer, large and small, which are springing up all across the land the the present time.

The Church in the UK is waking up, rising up and falling to its knees!

2 Chronicles 7:14: if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

According to our politicians, we as a nation are facing some of the most critical days in the last 40 to 50 years and possibly, even longer than that; the decisions being made will affect generations to come.
 
At this most vulnerable time for the nation, as followers of Jesus, we have a responsibility and a duty to pray for our Queen, our political leaders, our security services and our church leaders.  Most of us are not in these categories but the Bible tells us that each one of us are priests, proclaimers and pray-ers.
 
As Priests, we stand in the gap as an intermediary between earth and heaven on behalf of our families, communities and nation.  We declared at Trumpet Call last June that as we humble ourselves, pray, seek God and turn from our wicked ways, that He will hear, He will forgive, and He will heal.  As priests, we have a great High Priest who always intercedes for us. We do not stand alone.
 
As Proclaimers, we are preaching by word and action that even in a time of great uncertainty and vulnerability, this is a day of good news.  Today as on every day, Jesus the Light of the World dispels the darkness of evil, helps us to repent of our sins, and as we give our lives to Him He gives us His life, eternal life, and heaven’s life. 
 
As Pray-ers, we take our place in Heaven’s throne room and pray in the name of Jesus that God by His Spirit, will move in the hearts and minds of people across every spectrum of society, convicting of sin, bringing revelation of Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and a wonderful knowledge of eternal life.
 
As Priests, Proclaimers and Pray-ers, let us not be deflected by Brexit.  Of course it is very important, but it is more important for our families, communities and nation to know whether they will be in or out of heaven, than in or out of the EU.
 
We shall stand together in these days by the grace of God and declare with the Psalmist, “I will lift my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord the Maker of heaven and earth…”  Psalm 121.
 
By the way, there is no panic or confusion in heaven over Brexit, so we pray, “Your will be done in London and Brussels, as it is in heaven”.     
 
Our national prayer conference is at Swanwick on 11-13 March 2019 has the theme – REBUILD, RESTORE, RENEW.  It comes at a massively significant time for the nation. don’t forget to book in here.

Just received from the Elim Pentecostal Church in the UK:

‘With the British Exit (Brexit) from the European Union fast approaching the date when it is due to go into effect, there are many questions and opinions exercising all who are involved in the negotiations.

For those who are waiting to know what steps are being taken and their effect on the daily life and function of all, there are questions relating to the practical effect that Brexit will have. Beyond all this, for those who trust in God and His direction, there are many prayers ascending to the Throne of Grace. Let our prayers not be reactionary but rather, let our prayers be based on the Word of God.

It was King George VI who, in the crises of World War Two, reminded us of the quote from the poem, ‘The Gate of the Year’ by Minnie Haskins – ‘Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.’

What better advice is there that can be taken at this critical time’.

To help you pray, June Freudenberg, Elim’s Parliamentary Prayer Representative, has produced some prayer points in relation to the current Brexit situation.

Prayer Points

• Let us recognise that God makes the nations.
  ‘…and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made.’ Dt 26:19 
• God appointed a place for Israel as He has for every nation
  ‘Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them…’ 2 Sam 7:10
• We need to give recognition to the boundaries of each nation including Britain.
  And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings. Acts 17:26
• As British borders are re-defined, let us pray for wisdom as to how those borders are to be reclaimed and re-established.
  A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. Psalm 110:10 (b)
• Pray for wisdom that in breaking off from the European Union authority, that there will be healing on both sides.
  Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved. Ps 80:3
• Good government is God’s plan for every nation. God has given to each nation positions of authority for the advantage of that nation. The people who are put into those positions are our responsibility. Let us support them in prayer that God may guide them in the way that they should go.
  Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority. 1Tim 2:1-2 
• Pray for godly wisdom and understanding for those in authority.
  I, wisdom, dwell with prudence and find out knowledge and discretion. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength. By me kings reign and rulers decree justice. By me, princes rule, and nobles, all the judges of the earth. Proverbs 8:12-16
• As we pray for those in authority it is that personal needs of a good quality of life for everyone are achieved.
  that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 1 Tim 2:2 (b)
• Brexit will bring a period with a degree of disruption and re-alignment not only throughout Britain but throughout Europe as a whole. Let us pray that this will be achieved with understanding, patience and a sense of common purpose.
  I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with long suffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavouring to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. Eph 4: 1-3

God calls us to pray for those in authority and as the Brexit debate continues to rage in our Nation, it is surely time to do that in a Biblical way, without taking any particular position on process, assuming a specific outcome, or speaking against individuals involved.

A BIBLICAL PRAYER FOR THE GOVERNMENT

1 Tim 2:1 Heavenly Father I give thanks for our government.
1 Tim 2:2 I pray for all men and women having authority over us in any way.
Prov 1:23 Pour out your Spirit upon them and make Your Word known to them.
Ps 25:21 Cause them to be men and women of integrity, obedient concerning us,
1 Tim 2:2 that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, in all godliness and honesty.
Prov 2:10 Let wisdom enter their hearts, and let knowledge be pleasant to them.
Prov 2.11 Let discretion preserve them and understanding keep them,
